We welcomed the news that we were Victorian finalist for not one or two BUT THREE MFAA Awards: Newcomer, Young Professional and the SOLD- Community Champion Awards. We work hard and it’s nice to be recognised by the industry, but it isn’t recognition that we work for.
In the last 12 months, we have helped 25 families into their new homes. We have helped 14 first home buyers navigate the minefield of purchasing a property. We have refinanced 17 properties so their owners can release funds for investment. We have helped many families save money with a refinance to a lower interest rate. And helped them cut up their credit cards.
When we are finalists or winners of an award, we get a little sticker that looks nice on our website and blog posts (see below). But that’s not why we do this job.
11 months ago, we put in an offer on a home, subject to finance of course, which was accepted 10 days later. It was 8 years after our first auction in the area.
We submitted our paperwork and replied to query after query.
We prepared the home we had known and loved for 10 years, for sale.
But it wasn’t until finance was approved that meant it was actually going to happen.
Nat was at work when I told her it was approved and she cried. Because until that point, it was still a maybe.
And it’s that moment that I remember every day. That’s the moment it went from a dream to reality. The unconditional approval. Getting the loan over the line, the right loan, getting the right lender to meet the conditions. Getting the right loan for every client. I know that this process, my job, can turn a dream into reality. (so CORNY! I know!)
And, for every award, you know I’ve always thanked our clients. We get to help you and we love that. But you don’t know what you’ve given me.
When you trusted me with your finance, when you told your friends about us, you have supported our little business. My sanctuary. It means that I can keep an office to work from. It means I can support my family. It means that I can send 2 little boys to Auskick, and buy them bright yellow and green footy boots. It means I have an opportunity to be the change I want to see in the industry.
And it means I can continue to help other people and families all over Melbourne (and Geelong… and Sale… and Rye… we don’t mind a road trip.. or you’re always welcome at our Williamstown office!)
So on behalf of Nat and I, I’d like to say a big thank you, again! And thanks to the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia for holding us in such high regard.
